Chile for Tamales recipe

Ingredients:

  • 20 dried red chile peppers - washed, with stems and seeds removed
  • 5 cups water
  • 1 teaspoon dried, crushed Mexican oregano
  • 3 cloves garlic, crushed
  • salt to taste

    Instructions:

  • Wash dried peppers and remove stems and seeds.
  • Place in a blender or food processor with the water, oregano, garlic, and a pinch or two of salt.
  • Blend on high until peppers are thoroughly pureed, pulsing occasionally.
  • Adjust seasoning with salt, if needed.
