Ingredients:
1/2 cup shortening1/2 cup packed brown sugar1 cup molasses2 eggs1/2 teaspoon salt1 teaspoon ground cinnamon1/2 teaspoon ground cloves1 teaspoon ground ginger2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour1 teaspoon baking soda1 cup hot, brewed coffee
Instructions:
Sift together salt, cinnamon, cloves, ginger, flour, and baking soda.Cream shortening and sugar gradually, then add molasses and eggs. Mix in sifted ingredients. Stir in hot coffee; batter will be thin.Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 30 minutes. Cool.
