Ingredients:
1 cup white sugar1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour1/2 cup milk1/2 teaspoon salt1 cup pitted dates1/2 cup chopped walnuts1 teaspoon vanilla extract1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder2 cups packed brown sugar2 cups water5 tablespoons butter
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).Grease one 9x13 inch baking pan.Combine the sugar, flour, milk, salt, dates, nut, vanilla and baking powder and mix well.Pour batter into the prepared pan.In a saucepan over medium heat combine the brown sugar, water and butter or margarine and bring to boil.Pour brown sugar mixture over batter.Bake at 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) for 30 to 35 minute or until the cake tests done. Serve warm with whipped cream.
