Mom's Date Pudding Cake recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup pitted dates
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 cups packed brown sugar
  • 2 cups water
  • 5 tablespoons butter

    Instructions:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  • Grease one 9x13 inch baking pan.
  • Combine the sugar, flour, milk, salt, dates, nut, vanilla and baking powder and mix well.
  • Pour batter into the prepared pan.
  • In a saucepan over medium heat combine the brown sugar, water and butter or margarine and bring to boil.
  • Pour brown sugar mixture over batter.
  • Bake at 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) for 30 to 35 minute or until the cake tests done.
  • Serve warm with whipped cream.
