Tomato Sauce with Sausage recipe
    8 servings

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 2 pounds Italian sausage, casings removed
  • 2 large onions, chopped
  • 1/4 cup chopped garlic
  • 1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
  • 2 (28 ounce) cans whole peeled tomatoes
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup chopped fresh basil
  • salt and pepper to taste

    Instructions:

  • In a large saucepan heat oil and saute sausage until brown, about 6 minutes.
  • Add onion and garlic to pot and saute about 8 minutes.
  • Mix in tomato paste, tomatoes, water and basil.
  • Bring to a boil.
  • Break up tomatoes.
  • Reduce heat to medium and simmer until thickened, about 45 minutes.
  • Season with salt and pepper.
