Wheat and Barley Bread recipe |

Ingredients:
3/4 cup wheat and barley nugget cereal (eg. Grapenuts TM)1 1/4 cups buttermilk1 egg3/4 cup white sugar1 teaspoon baking soda1 teaspoon salt2 cups all-purpose flour2 tablespoons melted shortening
Instructions:
In a small bowl, soak grape nuts in buttermilk for 1 hour.In a large bowl, combine buttermilk mixture, sugar, salt, egg, and baking soda. Stir until sugar dissolves. Mix in the melted shortening and the flour. Pour batter into a greased and floured 9 x 5 inch loaf pan.Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for about 45 minutes. Cool.
